thumbnail sketch once more. there's a kanji aptitude test taken by highschoolers in Japan that they need to pass for their diplomas. junior high students need to pass a lesser test with fewer kanji. since Shin is a genius to start with, he's probably well ahead of even his classmates. there's approximately 2,136 out of the grand total of 7-8 THOUSAND Japanese kanji on that HS aptitude test.

let's put it this way, if our English alphabet had two THOUSAND letters could you remember them all? ;)

Japanese and Mandarin Chinese are two of the HARDEST 'alphabets' to learn on the planet. and this old lady expects seven year old kids to figure out all those words from just a few lines repeated over and over and over again?

here's an interesting quote from an American studying in Japan about taking the Kanken (kanji aptitude test):

"The lower levels of Kanken (10 through 5) are for children. The tests are divided rigidly along the lines of what is prescribed for each grade of Japanese elementary school. Level 10 is for 1st graders, 9 for 2nd, and so on (Japanese elementary school goes 1st to 6th grade)."

level 2 is for high school graduation exam certifications. students technically get a Kanken certificate of passing for each level 10-1. but the national standardization exams for HS diplomas in Japan also require you get your Kanken 2 certificate also.

oh and Kanken 1? heh! that's for experts who can proudly crow they can utilize 6,000 kanji correctly when they pass. most colleges in Japan don't even care one tiny bit about requiring Kanken 1 certificates. by the way, the American student i sourced that quote from received a print-out of all the Kanken 10-1 test takers' results in February of 2018 when he took his test.

10.4% of the Kanken 1 test takers passed. only ten percent. ;) but the printout he received didn't mention how many test takers there were for each level.

also, how in the blue blazes did she get the scarf on the cat in the first place? heh!

18:51 first time that happens in detective Conan. They are so good at drawing cats.🐈 🐈‍⬛. I love cats and animals in general. And a cat themed episode is awesome

No chasing criminal or action scene. Thats a first.
Its ok bruce. Everyone wants to protect their sleeping area. Just like Kogoro
